Stardust submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on July 30, 2013, 4:39pm "Stardust" is a fantastic tale about a man who thinks he can force women do to his will and instead learns that love is more important. Everyone in the novel learns the error of trying to control others or hold power over them.

Tristran is the son of a human father, with whom he lives in the town of Wall, and a fairy princess who visited the town that borders on her lands. At the age of 18, Tristran tries to get the village beauty, Victoria, to marry him by promising to bring her a fallen star. He enters into the supernatural realm of Fairy and finds a fallen star personified and takes her prisoner. Of course, others are also trying to capture the star for the power they can get from her. Meanwhile, the Fairy king's sons are fighting each other to the death for the crown. Parts of this book are very disturbing, including slavery, kidnapping and murder.

I highly recommend this very interesting story, as I do all of Gaiman's books. It won the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature in 1999 and the American Library Association's Alex Award in 2000.

Stardust submitted by lstorc on August 6, 2018, 4:36am This is a charming romantic comedy as only Neil Gaiman could deliver

stardust submitted by qmomo on July 30, 2019, 4:08pm charming fantasy story, one of neil gaiman's best. i like how it incorporates john donne's poem "song" into the plot (this element was probably inspired by diana wynne jones' usage of the same poem in howl's moving castle; jones was a friend and inspiration to gaiman).

Adult fantasy submitted by JulieCraig on June 29, 2021, 4:16pm Suggested by a man I met in the fantasy section at the bookstore. Not your normal fairy tale but it kept my attention and I finished it in a few days. Interesting characters and imaginary scenes were stunning. Will look for more stories by this author.

A Fairy Tale for Adults submitted by KatieD on August 21, 2021, 1:30pm This story takes elements from classic fairy tales and incorporates them into a fantasy story for adults. I enjoyed the story and world-building, but thought some of the characters could be a little more fleshed out.

Stardust submitted by catlover17 on August 22, 2021, 10:16pm Fantastic book! Although the main characters are in the teenage age range, this is definitely an adult book (a bit explicit). It’s a great fast-paced fairy tale, and everything comes together wonderfully at the end.

Stardust submitted by gmatthews360 on July 23, 2022, 3:53pm This is a lovely fairy tale. Funny and exciting, with just a bit of thrilling danger.
