In her early thirties, [the author] had everything a modern American woman was supposed to want - husband, country home, successful career - but instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she felt consumed by panic and confusion. This ... is the story of how she left behind all these outward marks of success, and of what she found in their place. Presents the memoir of a magazine writer's yearlong travels across the world in search of pleasure, guidance, experience, and meaning.

Interesting Read submitted by HS11 on June 27, 2011, 7:59am I really liked this book. As someone who is very interested in both travel and religion, it gave a very interesting perspective on both. Definitely worth reading.
Good submitted by joiemma on July 6, 2011, 5:37pm good
Eat Pray and Whine submitted by erksnerks on July 12, 2011, 9:15am Eat, Pray and Whine would have been a better title for this tomb. Boring mostly. I liked the description of the soccer game in Italy. Other than that a gigantic over indulged whiner tells her tale. Get a life and work on it to yourself is what I have to suggest to the author.

Fantastic submitted by ljq on August 13, 2011, 6:09pm After seeing the movie, I knew I had to read the book. It's a fantastic journey of one woman who traveled to discover herself. Elizabeth Gilbert's writing is funny, honest and very real as to her travels.
Good stuff submitted by jjdijkstra81 on August 22, 2011, 5:23pm Good thoughts and a woman's life experiences with love, travel and spirituality. Please don't see the movie though. Just read the book.
