"Batman created by Bob Kane."
"One bad day. According to the grinning engine of madness and mayhem known as The Joker, that's all that separates the sane from the psychotic. Freed once again from the confines of Arkham Asylum, he's out to prove his deranged point. And he's going to use Gotham's top cop, Commissioner Jim Gordon, and his brilliant and beautiful daughter Barbara to do it. Now Batman must race to stop his archnemesis before his reign of terror claims two of the Dark Knight's closest friends. Can he finally put an end to the cycle of bloodlust and lunacy that links thes two iconic foes before it leads to a fatal conclusion? And as the horrifying origin of the Clown Prince of Crime is finally revealed, will the thin line that separates Batman's nobility and The Joker's insanity snap once and for all? '' -- dust jacket.

batman submitted by nasuaada on July 25, 2011, 6:04pm batman is one of the best superheroes ever

All Right submitted by jaegerla on December 8, 2011, 9:14am It was good, but I can't forgive it for depicting a Joker origin story (even if it was a hallucinated past). The Joker is best left unexplained.

Want to know how I got these scars.... submitted by Pumpkinscones on June 25, 2013, 3:05pm In response to the review above about this being an origin story – it's the definitive origin story as the Joker himself explains. This is some of the primary source material for Ledger's Joker …..I'll leave that there as I don't want to throw in spoilers.

That aside it's horrible and violent. And a fantastic read. There are various versions available – they were unhappy with the coloration of the original so you can get hold of a darker read than what was originally released.

Exciting Read with the Animation Coming Up submitted by LuzrovRulay on July 11, 2016, 5:59pm So with the soon-to-come release of "The Killing Joke"'s animated debut (as of the posting of this review), I thought it was best to finally read this thrilling tale.

Given how much it was played up for me, I was expecting something a LOT worse, but it was still pretty dark. The back-story for the Joker was a little baffling to see, but given it was all something made up in his head, it was interesting to see one of the pasts he "saw" for himself put to picture. In the end, we still don't know what the truth is, but as I said, interesting. Graphic, but not overly so, but still the implications behind what was done were beyond grim.

Either way, a good read.

A "Must Read" ? submitted by rweyler on June 15, 2022, 4:39pm Of course it is if you're a Batman fan. It's widely regarded as one of the best of all time. Personally, I'm always relieved when I come to the last page. The story is just too cruel and grotesque for me.
