awesome submitted by sauerr on July 15, 2011, 8:12am awesome

Skip it submitted by andrewa on June 13, 2015, 9:45pm I was disappointed in this book. I wanted to love it but I felt like it was more of an intrusion on Watterson's life.

Good collected story if you don't know it. submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on July 2, 2015, 3:06pm 3.5 stars There's very little in here that couldn't be found by reading everything Bill Watterson has written himself, beyond quotes from other comic artists. OTOH, it's all collected in one place and I'm not generally going around looking for old speeches that he gave, so this was a lovely summary of the man behind a comic I love.

However, as seems true for so many research-y books these days, this one seems to be as much about the author's journey as about the subject matter. It's a style, and it's current (i.e. it is by no means unique to Martell). But I picked this up because I wanted to learn about Watterson. I really don't care about *Martell's* personal journey through the course of doing the research, and I most certainly do not care what music he listened to in the car on his way to visit Watterson's home town of Chagrin Falls, OH.

I look forward to this style going out of style.
